Avril Lavigne made her debut into the music industry in 2002 with her album, “Let Go.”  From there she continued to grace the world with boy bashing pop songs and a plethora of other catchy tunes that seemed to appeal to all ages.  Since then she has appeared in several movies and TV shows and released another three albums.  After her 2002 debut, she released another in 2004, then another in 2007, and we didn’t hear from her again until just last year. We think it’s safe to say that Avril was not a singer that most expected to stick around this long, but since she’s still going strong 10 years later, we thought we’d celebrate with her a little and take a look at some of the ink behind the little girl with the big voice. No Method to the Madness While Avril has quite a few tattoos, they are all very small.  She claims that each one of them was a spur of the moment decision; not a lot of thought went into them.  She also claims that one day she is going to have a “big ass mother effing tattoo,” but is waiting for the right time and the right ink. Matching Ink Several of Avril’s tattoos can be spotted on other celebs too, since many of them she got as matching ink with someone else.  Her very first tattoo was a star on the inside of her left wrist.  It’s the same style as the artwork on the “Let Go” album.  The song “Nobody’s Home” on the album was co-written with Ben Moody, the guitarist from Evanescence, and he has an identical tattoo on his wrist. Avril has a couple of matching tattoos with ex-hubby Deryck Whibley.  She’s got a pink heart with a “D” on the left side of her wrist, while he got an “A” in the same spot.  Since they are good friends, she hasn’t covered it up and added a music note underneath it.  On Deryck’s 30 th birthday, they both had the number “30” tattooed on their wrists, even though they had already filed for divorce at that point.  In April of 2010, Avril had a lightning bolt tattooed underneath it; current boyfriend Brody Jenner has a matching one behind his ear. Inside of her right elbow, Avril has a star and the roman numerals for 25.  The star is a matching tat with friend Allie, and the “XXV” was done when she was 25 (imagine that), and boyfriend Brody has a matching one. Words and Tiny Symbols The remainder of Avril’s many tattoos are all her own and not a twin version of another celeb’s ink. Here’s a look at some of the assorted ink Avril’s got going on: The words “Abbey Dawn” inside her left elbow.  Apparently it’s a nickname her father gave her when she was young and it’s also the name of her clothing line. Her right ribcage has “Brody” tattooed on it; he got her name on his elbow. In 2010, Avril added the word “Fu%*” to her ribcage.  Sources say that Brody may have a matching one; so much for individuality. Star tattoos abound in Avril’s ink collection.  In addition to the one we’ve already covered, she has the outline of two stars on her left hip, a tiny one on her right shoulder blade, and a small blue one on her left leg. Lastly, Avril has a safety pin tattooed on the left side of her neck.  She claims it’s the kind of thing that comes in handy all the time. “…it can hurt you but that the same time keep you together…”
