With all of the news surrounding the recent split of Katy Perry and Russell Brand, we thought it was time to take a closer look at the ink that Brand is sporting.  Brand, who has been quoted as calling himself an “S&M Willy Wonka” has always had a lot of controversy surrounding him, and has always been, in a word, “original.”  The same can be said of Brand’s array of tattoos which vary greatly in look and meaning. Before If you saw the movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall then you were able to get a good look at all of Russell Brand’s pre-Katy tattoos.  He’s got a large eyeball tattooed on his right shoulder that has foreign script underneath it.  For being a guy who bares it all at will, it’s amazing that nobody knows what the script actually says.  The same goes for the band around his arm just below the eyeball and the script that is scrawled across his right ribcage.  Suffice is to say that Brand’s many tattoos are just like him; entirely unique.  Luckily for us, Brand does have exactly one tattoo that is in perfectly plain English.  The word “Ecstasy” is displayed in beautiful script across his left hip.  You can have a nice little look-see at this conspicuously placed tattoo throughout the movie. During You’d have to be living under a rock to have missed the flood of news about Brand and Perry getting matching tattoos.  The then happily engaged couple went in together for some new ink and came out with matching Sanskrit tattoos on the upper inside of their right arms.  Brand’s is shown off in his oh-so –sexy Rolling Stones Magazine cover shoot.  Of course it’s not the first thing you notice, since his other hand is provocatively placed just inside his unbuttoned and slightly pulled down (and probably skin tight) jeans.  The Sanskrit tattoos read, “Anuugacchati Pravaha” which simply means, “Go With the Flow.” In December, Brand appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and discussed a tattoo that he had gotten over Thanksgiving.  He blamed Perry, claiming, “She’s always scribbling permanent things on my body…”  His new ink was on his upper arm and included a West Ham United logo (his favorite football team) along with a candy cane swirl background that offers a small tribute to Perry. After Recently, after being spotted several times getting inked with Katy Perry, Brand was spotted at a tattoo parlor; solo.  This was sad news for Brand-Perry followers after seeing all of the pictures of their co-inking and even seeing Perry try her own hand at tattooing.  Nobody knows yet if he’s got new ink or if maybe he got something removed.  It would definitely be understandable if he got his Katy Perry-matching tattoo removed; who wants a permanent reminder of a failed marriage?  Oh yeah, half of the celebrities in Hollywood.  Well, at least they didn’t tattoo each other’s names or other tribute; that might be a little harder to live with.
